Figure Drawing, For All It's Worth by Andrew Loomis - FREE
What was, and still is considered by many the standard in figure drawing artbooks. This is Figure Drawing for all its worth.
Probably Andrew Loomis's most popular book of the bunch. This book breaks down the figure from the very beginning, simply how to see and look upon the figure while noting perspective and space all the way to the more advanced stuff where he begins to talk less on figure construction but upon figure rendering, action, and set ups.
This book is for the absolute beginner and pro alike. Definitely worth picking up.
I believe I heard in an interview with Iain McCaig (google the name if you don't know who he is) that he goes through the entire book once a year, copying every page's drawings on scratch paper. He treats the entire book like an exercise. Learning never stops....
Will always have a special place for me. This was the first Loomis book I ever got. Carried it with me everywhere in college for my first year and still go through it on occasion to this day. Cant recommend it enough. Keep in mind this is just one school of thought for figure construction. If it doesn't fit you for some reason, highly recommend other artists too to look at such as Bridgeman, Steve Houston, Henry Yan, Harry Carmean,Will Weston and many others.
Note*
THIS IS NOT MY BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can literally leave this page, google the name along with "PDF" its EVERYWHERE! Its BEEN everywhere for a while now. YEARS! I'm merely posting it here along with the other books so that I have a place to send people who I talk to about this book. Not my work, I'm listing it for free. I don't get anything. Thank you ^_^
